Our pick: Runway
Match for this job: 92%. Our rating: 3.5, #1 of 3 in Video (generators). Skill level: intermediate.
Runway is for making or altering moving images, not for a corporate presenter reading a script. Expect to iterate on each clip: it's a creative tool with a learning curve. Its plans also cover AI images and audio on the same credit balance, using a range of models listed on the pricing page.

Who should skip Runway
- You need a presenter reading a script to camera. Synthesia or HeyGen do that directly.
- You have long recordings to cut into clips. OpusClip or Descript.
- You want to generate video regularly for free. Runway's free credits are a one-time 125.
- You need predictable output on the first try. Generative video takes iteration, and each try spends credits.

How we rank (read this first)
- Match is how well a tool matches this one job in our research. Our rating is a separate overall score for the tool against its category. A tool can be the strongest match for a job and still carry a middling overall rating, and we show both.
- Scores are research-based, not hands-on testing. We build them from vendor pricing and product pages, documentation, public leaderboards and published reviews. We did not test these tools ourselves.
- Rankings are our own. Sponsors never affect them, and payment never buys a higher rank. Sponsored placements are labeled and kept out of rankings.
- Links: "Visit" links go through bestbotfor.com/go, which logs the click and sends you to the vendor's site. Some of those links may be affiliate links, and we may earn a commission. That never changes our picks or rankings.
